Years ago, I wrote a blog post about how to pack for a flight. I’ve since given up the whole blog thing, but I thought this new Substack might be just the place for offering random advice on a fairly regular basis.

If you are a listener to Lori 365’ish, you got a small taste of what this post is about. Here, I will go in-depth on what it means to travel by air with your gear. You know I do it a lot. Yes, you can call Miss Million-miler, thank you, Delta Airlines.

Let’s begin with the big stuff.

How do you pack when you're traveling to Europe?

I get asked that a lot. My first thought is always, “The same way I pack for (readers, insert your favorite U.S. painting destination here.) I’m not sure what it is about going over a big body of water that seems so daunting. Maybe it is scary because you are worried you will overpack and have to lug your stuff through unfamiliar train stations, bus stations, and airports. The solution? Always pack as if you were flying to Europe, even when traveling by car. You will get better at packing light and will appreciate it even when you are driving to your local beach or mountain range.

What to Pack

Here it is. My complete packing list is attached below. I print it out every time I begin packing so that ’t forget anything. I’m constantly interrupted while packing, and having this where I can check off what I have packed is a real lifesaver.
